Adharashram started functioning from the home of late Vaidya Annashastri Datar and with increasing number of inmates, it shifted to the homes of Smt. Indirabai Bapat and then Dr. R.V.Kelkar, which too became inadequate soon. Observing the passion and dedicated efforts of the founders to serve the needy children, Nashik Municipal Corporation allotted a plot of land to Adharashram near Gharpure Ghat on the banks of Godavari river. Half the battle was won but in order to have its own building, Vaidya Annashastri Datar mortgaged his and his brother’s houses to raise funds. The Bhoomipujan was performed by Shri Yashwantrao Chavan, the then Defence Minister and soon Adharashram shifted to it’s own premises in 1970. But the number of inmates was growing rapidly and when it crossed 150, space crunch affected further development activities. It was planned to have a bigger, spacious building considering future expansions. Dr. Mrs. Nishigandha Mogal and Dr. Mrs. Shobha Bacchav contributed Rs.10 Lakhs each from their MLC/MLA funds and the construction started. Simultaneously, innumerable well wishers of Nashik wholeheartedly showered their love & generosity for the cause and soon the well planned, spacious building was completed.

सुरवातीला आधाराश्रम वैद्य कै.अण्णाशास्त्री दातार यांच्या घरात सुरु झाला व नंतर सहवासी बालकांची संख्या वाढल्यामुळे, आधी कै.इंदिराबाई बापट यांच्या घरात आणि नंतर कै.डॉ.रा.वि.केळकर यांच्या घरात हलवण्यात आला. परंतु ही जागा लवकरच अपुरी पडू लागली म्हणून आधाराश्रमाची स्वतःची वास्तू असावी असे संस्थापकांना वाटू लागले.

गरजू मुलांची सेवा करण्याची संस्थापकांची तळमळ आणि समर्पित प्रयत्न बघून नाशिक नगरपालिकेने गोदावरी काठावर घारपुरे घाटालगत एक भूखंड दिला. अर्धी लढाई तर जिंकली पण स्वतःची इमारत उभारण्यासाठी निधीची चणचण भासू लागली तेंव्हा अण्णाशास्त्रीनी स्वतःचे व त्यांच्या बंधूचे घर गहाण ठेवून पैसे उभे केले. नवीन वास्तूचे भूमिपूजन तत्कालीन संरक्षणमंत्री कै.यशवंतराव चव्हाण यांच्या हस्ते होऊन बांधकामास प्रारंभ झाला आणि आधाराश्रम स्वतःच्या वास्तूत 1970 मधे स्थलांतरित झाला.

परंतु सहवासी बालकांची संख्या सतत वाढतच होती आणि जेंव्हा ती 150 च्या वर गेली तेंव्हा भविष्यातल्या विस्ताराचा विचार करून नवीन, प्रशस्त वास्तूनिर्मितीची योजना हाती घेण्यात आली. या कार्याकरता डॉ.सौ.निशिगंधा मोगल आणि डॉ.सौ.शोभा बच्छाव यांनी त्यांच्या आमदार निधीतून प्रत्येकी रु.10 लाखांचा निधी दिला आणि बांधकाम सुरु झाले. त्यानंतर नाशिकच्या असंख्य दानशूर हितचिंतकांनी मनापासून मदतीचा हात दिला आणि लवकरच सध्याची नवीन सुनियोजित, प्रशस्त इमारत 2005 मधे पूर्ण झाली.

Adharashram has a well-equipped play ground where children of all ages play with great joy and happiness.

Hostel for Working Women

Many working women who come to Nashik from outside to work and stay alone; need a safe, clean, affordable accommodation.
Adharashram strived to fulfil that need and has built a hostel on its premises for working women. This hostel can accommodate 80 women and is furnished with beds, cupboards, fans and solar hot water. It is the only hostel of this kind in Nashik which provides such facilities at very nominal charges.

Building Ambience

We try and maintain the building ambience to be cheerful and suitable for the growth of children. For example, our staircase walls are painted with cartoon characters and Lord Krishna in vibrant colours. Our children love it!

Computer Lab

We have a well-equipped computer lab to bring our children to speed with those from the rest of the world and train them in essential digital skillsets.
